Welcome to the Cheerleaders...

Louise  (Coach)

Name: Louise Carter

Age: 22

Place of Birth: Lewisham, South London, England!!

University and Squad: Loughborough Goldrush

Course: Multi Media Textiles

I started cheerleading for the Palace Crystals at the age of 12 and as part of the team we won first place in international cheer and dance. I was a member of Team Britain (the first British national display squad) in 2000 and 2001. We travelled to Malaysia (twice) to jugde, perform and coach the up and coming Malaysian cheer scene.
I have been coaching cheerleading for 7 years and have experience coaching cheerleading and gymnastics to children and adults of all ages. This is my third year as part of the Bulldogs Cheer Squad and my second as a coach. I have just graduated, but hope to remain cheerleading for some years to come yet.

Amee

Name: Amee Garala

Age: 20

Place of Birth: Peterborough, CAMBS

University and Squad: Loughborough Goldrush

Course: BSc Sport and Leisure Management

Hello! I’ve been cheering with Loughborough Goldrush for the past two years and what a two years it’s been!

I turned up to the freshers bazaar in my 1st year too late (was the freshers ball the night before so wasn't feeling my best!!). I was told there were no spaces left on the squad but I was persistent and turned up to every session just to watch! Was so frustrating to watch and not join in- so was happy when someone dropped out as this meant I could have her place!! The past two years- cheering for the American Football and Basketball team, competitions, the switching on of the Loughborough xmas lights!! and drunken socials have been amazing- cheerleading is soo addictive!

I've been known to be slightly clumsy whilst in the air- amongst my many incidents...giving Louise 2 black eyes just days before our end of season ball...oooppps! Bases will be pleased to hear no recent incidents to report on!

I’ve just started my placement year with my regional sports development team but will definitely still be involved with Loughborough Goldrush and the cheering...I’d miss it too much otherwise!

I'm really looking to being part of the Bulldogs and making lots more cheer-buddies! I’m sure we'll all train hard, have lots of fun and get up to mischief on nights out!!

See you all soon :) AMEE xxx

Anna

Name: Anna Jackson

Age: 23

Place of Birth: Leeds

University and Squad: Birmingham Pussycats

Course: Pharmacology, soon to be PGCE in secondary maths

I started cheering 2 years ago and haven't looked back! It's been an amazing 2 years, the highlights being competing in the states, winning the BCA uni competition 2 years in a row and cheering at the college bowl this year (it's great when the boys make your job so easy by never losing!). Cheerleading takes up pretty much all of my time and I wouldn't have it any other way! As well as cheering with the Pussycats I coach the peewee squad at Cheering 4 Brum and cheer for the Birmingham Bulls with the the seniors. The Bulls are doing great so far this season so I'm hoping they're going to replicate the success of the Lions this year! I'm really looking forward to the Bulldogs camps and games, all the cheeries seem lovely, I'm sure we're going to have all sorts of fun!
I graduated from Brum Uni with a degree in Pharmacology, 3 years of hell!! I'm now contemplating my future as a Maths teacher, I think all this cheering has sent me slightly loopy!!

Charlotte

Name: Charlotte Bell

Age: 21

Place of Birth: Chichester, West Sussex

University and Squad: Kent Falconettes

Course: Psychology and Sociology

Been cheering for three years for the Falconettes. I tend to be the bossy one shouting at people cos they are doing it wrong!! Have just graduated from uni which is a shame, as the Falconettes have just bought new uniforms and will start competing next year! Hopefully they'll have me back as some sort of guest star- haha!

This is my second year as a Bulldog - had an amazing time in San Fran with everyone last year. Cant wait to put on the Bulldogs uniform again and just hope that this year will live up to last years fun and games!

Also love to go to Thursdays on a Tuesday (!) and still do some (mostly really bad) gymnastics outside of cheerleading, and love to shop. Am a bit of a bargain hunter, and moving home this summer nearly killed me, after trying to condense three years worth of shopping, into just one room!

Claire

Name: Claire Peaker

Age: 21

Place of Birth: Truro, Cornwall

University and Squad: Cardiff Uni Snakecharmers

Course: Music

Hey, I started cheerleading two years ago, only because the uni didn't really have a dance club and I totally fell in love with it!! I've danced all my life but cheerleading takes it to a whole new level, stunting is amazing and such fun! I also made some fantastic friends through cheering and can't wait to start training with the bulldogs squad! I'm spending the summer coaching children cheerleading and so will probably be totally cheered out!! I'm next years captain of our squad and can't wait to start again and am so looking forward to competition time! See everyone soon, keep cheering!

Clare-Marie

Name: Clare-Marie Wells

Age: 22

Place of Birth: Bristol

University and Squad: Aberystwyth Thunderbirds

Course: BScEcon International Politics and Strategic Studies

I've been cheering for the Aber Thunderbirds for two years after being persuaded to join when I ended up in a flat full of American Footballers freshman year! I've had so much fun,and if the short skirts and great nights out weren't enough enticement the people definitely were! I will be going into my third year in Sept studying International Politics and Strategic Studies, which means I'm supposed to start calming down, but with cheerleading for the lads, entering our first competition squad and living with 3 other cheeries I dont really see that happening!

I feel really privileged to be part of Bulldogs this year as everyone seems to have a million times more experience than me! Girls be warned though - I am not a morning person!!! And although I seem calm most of the time I do have my moments of madness and hyperactivness - usually when I am really tired, excited or drunk!!!! I'm really looking forward to Bulldogs and getting to know everyone better as well as getting to watch some great football, because no matter how much I tell myself I'm not the 'typical cheerleader' I blatantly am!!!so.............LETS GO BULLDOGS!

Holly

Name: Holly Beane

Age: 20

Place of Birth: Basildon, Essex

University and Squad: University of Kent Falconettes

Course: BA Drama and English

Hi, I’m Holly, from Wickford in Essex, and I’ve just finished my second year studying English and Drama at the University of Kent.  I’ve been cheerleading since I started Uni, having been pounced on at Freshers’ Fayre by some very enthusiastic people who promised me that joining the Falconettes was the best thing I could possibly do and that I would have so much fun.  Well that was true, my cheering days have been wicked, and I’m Vice President of the squad next year, which will be cool.  I can’t believe I now get to represent my country doing something that I love - I can’t wait to get started on the training, and getting to know you guys properly, and I’m especially looking forward to improving my stunting ability.  As well as cheering I love music, singing and dancing, playing the piano and travelling, my ambition being to see the world : ) This summer is going to be brilliant, see you all soon!!

Jennie

Name: Jennifer Louise Kennedy (Jennie, Jen, J)

Age: 21

Place of Birth: Frimley, Hampshire, England

University and Squad: University of Wales, Aberystwyth - Thunderbirds

I graduated from Aber this year with a BA in Film+TV and American Studies. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years at university and I’m very sad that it has all come to an end. At least it ends on a good note as this is my second year on the Bulldogs squad and I love every minute of it! Before university I thought cheerleading only existed in the states-how wrong was I! I joined the Thunderbirds in my second year and I never looked back- in fact now I can’t get enough of cheerleading! This summer I set up and captained the squad, the Roman Goddesses for the BSL team the Chester Romans. I’ve had so much fun doing it and already in our first season we have 11 cheerios! Now that I’ve graduated I plan on travelling the world as I have a great passion for it and want to experience many different cultures. Maybe I’ll grow up sometime and settle down with a serious job but for now I want to live life with all the exciting adventures it throws at me!! Exciting adventure No.1---Bulldogs Tour 2005!!!

Lauren

Name: Lauren Fitzgerald

Age: 19

Place of Birth: North London

University and Squad: Reading Bunnies

Course: BA English

Well....I'm Lauren. I have just finished my first year at Reading Uni where I'm studying English Lit. When I'm not in sunny Reading I live in St Albans, Herts. I have been dancing since the year dot but only started cheerleading when I came to uni in September due to the lack of what I would consider a 'normal' dance club. To be honest cheerleading was the best thing I could have done. I absolutely love being a bunnie - all the girls are wicked, we have amazing socials and the cheering itself is sooooo much fun!!! I feel we have achieved so much as a squad this year and we even have a  bit of silverware to prove it. I'm going to be one of the choreographers for the squad next term so watch out for those Britney moves on the sideline. I have been competing on the Co-Ed squad this year so it will be wicked to work with all-girlies this summer. In fact, I'm really excited about being a Bulldog.....bring on the summer!!!!

Lianne

Name: Lianne Shaw (But everyone calls me Pat!)

Age: 19

Place of Birth: BRIGHTON!

University and Squad: University of Hertfordshire Sirens

Course: BA Accounting with Spanish

Hello there! I'm Lianne, AKA Pat. You'll see me coming a mile off as I'm normally about 2ft taller than everyone else (Only kidding, about 1 1/2ft!) I'm studying for a degree in Accounting with Spanish at University of Hertfordshire, which I think has gone well but we will find out when I get my results through at the end of the month! Not sure why I decided to join my Uni's cheerleading squad really, I needed to make some new friends seeing as I had moved up north to Uni (I know its not actually in the north but was the furthest north I had ever been at the time!), adn then at Freshers fair some weird Britney lookalike (AKA My coach, Sam Bond) grabbed me and tried to make me come to cheerleading practice, I politely declined but then she launched into her famously "unique" version of Whitney's "I Will Always Love You", and what can I say? I had to save my ears, so I went! Actually had a really great time, made lots of new friends, get taken the mick out of and was given a Barbie doll for my 19th birthday! (Weird, I know!) Haven't really looked back since. Cheered at every Hurricanes game in the 04/05 BCAFL season (Except college bowl 'cos we didnt make it - next year guys!) then the same Britney wannabe made me try out for GB Bulldogs, and I actually got in! (Personally, I think it was because of my fantastically mucked-up running cartwheel on the second day of try-outs when i fantastically fell on my head - AGAIN!). Anyway, thats enough of my waffle for now! GO BULLDOGS!

Samantha

Name: Samantha Bond

Age: 21

Place of Birth: Basildon, Essex

University and Squad: University of Hertfordshire Sirens

Course: Primary Education with Art and P.E.
I have been cheering with the Herts Sirens for the past two years, and this year captained and coached the squad. We came 2nd in both Future cheer London Regionals and BCA University comps in the cheer catergory, and 4th and 3rd in dance. We cheer for the Hertfordshire Hurricanes, who are an awesome team to cheer for. They play amazing football and are always a pleasure to watch, and there always nice to have a chat to after the game. I also cheer for the London Olympians with the London Flames cheer squad. I coach the squad who are still in the early stages of being set up. I was in the GB Bulldogs squad last year and had an amazing time in San Francisco, shopping, sites and sun. I made some amazing friends and watched some amazing football, all whilst cheerleading.
Outside of cheerleading, i like a lot of other sports. I like to think i'm an awesome tennis player, and i love watching football of the American and British variety, but in both cases have bad taste in the teams i choose to support, the San Francisco 49ers, and manchester City! I also like going out for a boogie and the odd sip of vino! I also can never turn down a shopping trip or visit to the cinema with my girlie mates, and i'm known for legendary random trips in my much loved Renault Clio.

Sarah

Name: Sarah Kenealy

Age: 21

Place of Birth: Hillingdon, Middx

University and Squad: Southampton Vixens

Course: BSc Biomedical Science

Hi, I’m Sarah and I have been a Vixen for 2 years and I have loved every minute of it. I compete with the elite squad and the dance squad. I am very proud to be next years captain too! I have just graduated from a BSc Biomedical Science Degree but my love for cheerleading has kept me in Southampton and I am now completing a Post Graduate Adult Nursing Diploma. I love the thrill of competing but game day cheering is a completely different kind of fun!! I couldn't do without either. Cheerleading does seem to run my life but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Bring on an awesome summer!

Tamsin

Name: Tamsin Thorne

Age: 21

Place of Birth: Truro, Cornwall

University and Squad: Southampton Vixens

Course: BSc Psychology

I've been cheerleading for two years with the Southampton Vixens and have loved every minute! As well as supporting the Southampton Stags, this year I was lucky enough to help coach Vixens Pride, one of the three squads that competed this year. It was the best experience I had with cheerleading and I was so proud of all the squad's acheivements. I was also proud to be involved with our dance squad who came first in the large dance division at the BCA Uni Comp, although I never actually managed to get on the competition floor due to my clumsiness in the cheer division! (The girl on crutches at comp was me!!!!!) I can't believe I get to be a part of the Bulldogs this year! I love American Football and am so pleased that I get to support the boys this year on the sidelines! I've just graduated from Southampton so I can't think of a better way to end my cheerleading career than cheering for GB. LET'S GO BULLDOGS!!!!
